A tragic shooting in Harlesden, north-west London, on Saturday night has left a woman dead and two men injured. Police were called to Gifford Road at approximately 9:15 PM after reports of gunfire in the area.
Officers arrived to find a woman, believed to be in her 40s, who had sustained fatal injuries. Despite their efforts, she was pronounced dead at the scene.
Two men in their 30s were also found with gunshot wounds. One remains in critical condition in the hospital, while the other’s injuries have been described as non-life-threatening.
Witnesses in the area reported hearing multiple gunshots. A resident recalled hearing five shots in quick succession, followed by screams from nearby neighbors. “It’s heartbreaking and terrifying,” she said.
The River of Life Elim Pentecostal Church, located near the scene of the attack, is now behind a police cordon as investigators work to determine the circumstances leading up to the incident.
A neighbor living on Gifford Road expressed shock, revealing that her daughter had arrived home just minutes before the shooting took place. “It’s unsettling—we’ve never had anything like this happen here before,” she said.
Another resident described the aftermath as chaotic. “I was inside a nearby church when someone came in and told us what had happened. When I looked outside, it was complete pandemonium,” he recounted.
Police have confirmed that the deceased woman did not live in the area. They have not ruled out any motives for the attack and are appealing to the public for information.
Superintendent Tony Josephs, addressing the incident, called it a “heinous act of violence” and sought to reassure the local community. “Our team of experienced detectives is working tirelessly to piece together what happened and bring those responsible to justice,” he said.
The junction of Gifford Road and Creukhorne Road remains sealed off as the investigation continues. No arrests have been made so far, and a murder inquiry is now underway. Anyone with information is urged to contact the police.
