A 38-year-old woman was killed in Greece early Saturday morning after an explosive device detonated while she was attempting to plant it, authorities have confirmed.
According to police, the incident occurred around 5am in Thessaloniki, a major city in northern Greece, as the woman was allegedly en route to target a bank ATM with the bomb.
The blast caused damage to nearby shops and vehicles, investigators said.

“It seems she was transporting an explosive and intended to place it near a cash machine at a bank,” a senior law enforcement source told the Reuters news agency.
The device prematurely exploded while still in her possession, the source added.
Police said the woman was already known to law enforcement due to her involvement in previous armed robberies.
Authorities are now looking into potential links between the woman and far-left militant organizations.
